The vision for change policy (MHC 2006) outlines plans for ward closures to supporter in re placing clients in a community setting. This was following on from the previous publication of planning for the future, which did indeed ebb the number of long stay in patients significantly to the community (DOH, 1984). This move and the original plans did not however take wide of the marky into account the necessity for rehabilitation, especially for the elderly or people with an intellectual disability.
